WILD FIRE TEAM CONSTITUTION Revised: April 11th, 2010 I. Membership: * Payment and registration with USA hockey are required to be a member. * Season ice fees should be paid in full by first week of practice unless other arrangements are made. The optional arrangement would require that ˝ the membership fee be paid by the first week of practice, and the remainder be paid by the last day of November. But it is highly encouraged that season ice fees be paid in full in advance of the first practice. * Season ice fees will be determined on an annual basis to include a minimum of 20 practices depending on number of members. * There will be no refund of season ice fees, but you may sell your slot to the next person on the waiting list. * Membership entitles player to a full season of practices, voting rights, and first priority eligibility for tournaments. * After a players’ first year as an active member, they will have priority for sign up for the following year as long as they pay at least ˝ the season ice fees by the 3rd practice of the season. * Special circumstances may allow for a leave of absence without losing membership eligibility or priority – such as injury, pregnancy, etc. This may be voted on by the team on a case by case basis. * Team size will be limited to a maximum of 25 people plus 2 full time goalies in order to help insure a quality practice. * Members must be at least 12 years of age and members under 18 years of age must have a guardian-signed waiver on file. II. Drop-Ins: * Drop-ins are welcome on a first to pay – first to play basis up to a maximum of 25 people at practice (including members). Maximum number of people at any practice shall be 25 in order to help insure a quality practice for both players and coach(es). * Drop in fee will be determined on an annual basis. * Men may be allowed on a drop-in basis with approval of the team and providing the 25 person limit at practice has not been met. III. Voting: * Votes will be categorized into major and minor votes. If in question, determination of whether a vote is major or minor will be done with a show of hands. If at least one person feels it is a major vote, then the issue will be voted on as a major vote. * Major Vote: Notice of a major vote must be sent out to the team at least one week in advance of the vote. The vote will be held in the locker room before or after practice. Voting can be done anonymously and/or in absentia electronically. Minor Votes will be held in the locker room before or after practice by a show of hands. IV. Organizers/Duties: * There will be no board members. However there are specific duties that need to be performed in order to keep the organization of the team. These duties/positions do not give any additional voting or decision making rights to the person performing these duties. * All positions will be for 1 year, and will be decided by random selection of volunteers for that position. Each volunteer is expected to either attend practice or designate an alternate/assistant to cover their position in their absence. Each volunteer is further expected to follow the standardized guidelines set for their position by the team. * Each volunteer shall serve as the primary contact person responsible for seeing that the duties of their position are fulfilled, but they may request assistance as needed from as many team members as they see fit. * Treasurer: Treasurer will be responsible for handling all debits and credits for the team, keeping a balanced account/check book, receiving all membership dues, paying ice fees, paying tournament fees, etc * Membership: Will be in charge of USA hockey registration, getting insurance documents to the rink, organizing and maintaining a team roster, and recruiting new members. (Membership/Tournament Coordinator may be merged into one position as needed to fill all volunteer positions.) * Tournament Coordinator: Shall find, and coordinate tournament participation. Including contact with the tournament organizers, will work with treasurer to keep track of payment on a first to pay, first to play basis. Help coordinate transportation and lodging. Send roster to coach * Fundraising Coordinator: Will be responsible for researching and presenting fundraising opportunities to the team, in accordance with annual fundraising goals set by the team, and for coordinating volunteers to staff selected fundraisers. * Communications Coordinator: Shall be responsible for overseeing electronic and written communication, both internally and externally, including website maintenance and communications with the rink. All communication to the whole team must be directed through the Communications Coordinator. V. Coaching * There shall be one head coach, as voted on by the team. * Assistants may be brought in upon approval by the team and the head coach. * Coach will determine line-ups for tournaments, however requests are welcome if there is a particular position one would like to play.
